Thanks.
I'd say the filter is the normal old style size, but the 3.9 filter is a very small modern one. Think I'll remove the remote, less places to leak and a tidier engine bay.

Remote Oil Filter
The Rover 3.5 V8 in my Landy has a remote oil filter because a chassis rail is in the way. The replacement 3.9 engine, which is ex TVR has a much smaller filter, I'm not bothered by the smaller filter, I'll just change it more often. Just wondering if there is any other advantage to having a remote ...

Re: Alternator brackets Rover V8
Decided to chop that part off and add another bolt through into the front of the cylinder head. The alternator bracket also doubles as a lifting eye, I'm sure that's why it uses one of the head bolts.

Re: Alternator brackets Rover V8
Thanks Chris.
Yes, from the driver's seat and it's a steel one, guess I'll have to alter the wiring.

Alternator brackets Rover V8
Is there an alternator bracket that fits on the left side of the engine and doesn't use one of the head bolts to attach to the engine please?
Using stretch bolts and the steel bracket won't work these, rather not re-route the alternator wiring either!
Thanks
Andy

Re: Hello
I was going to get the heads tested, for cracking and warping, how do I test the block without stripping it down?

Hello
Hi Just purchased a Land Rover SWB with a 3.5 on carbs fitted. Unfortunately, (or not!) it's got a blown head gasket, which why I got it cheapish! Engine dropped all it's water on the cars first drive, overheated and now pressurises the coolant. Plan is to remove head, skim them, composite head gask...

Re: Best Head Gasket Brand
Thanks Chris I haven't collected the Landy yet, it's a new purchase, so unsure if it's tin or composite! If I'm really lucky, it's tin and the CR skim will also take care of any warping! Thanks for the answer, I'm new to RV8's so lots of question will be arriving, either here or on the Forum. And wh...
