If you wanted to go all out, have someone make an adapter for a ZF8HP and go 8 speed auto. You can do lever shift or flappy paddle etc, and they're great boxes.
The original 4 speed would be easier though

Re: Blown motor gearbox choice
Depends. How much power, torque, traction, vehicle weight, and definitely which LT77. Before I have up with them on my 3.9 TT many many years ago, they'd last a short while. I bought a few cheap from a 2.0 assuming the gears were the same. I broke both of them within 20 minutes of fitting lol The V8...

Re: Range EFI 3.9 front cover oil seal
If the seal is soft, the inner part undamaged, and the spring good, then it should be fine.

Re: Range EFI 3.9 front cover oil seal
Not sure what you are asking ?
Do you have a leak or not ?
Hard to dell damage or issues sometimes from the outside, unless it's major damage.
That pic is very blurry if it is trying to show something ?

Re: Auto to manual conversion
Sorry I missed some text out, wondering what aftermarket parts and pedal box etc people have used I'm sure most people use the manual factory version from a particular car. If that's not available....bit more awkward. You'd need to look at your existing pedal box, how it affixes etc etc t determine...

Re: Classic v8 3.5
Where is the probe located ?
After the stat ? ie so it might see fluctuations in temp as it opens ?
Although I guess if it's a new "problem", the probe has never moved ?

So it's an entirely mechanical gauge ? no electric involved at all ?
Is the probe anywhere that might see air locks or something ?

Re: 3.5 SU Fast Idle Setup
If the main throttle blades/airflow are balanced at warm idle, and driving and tuning are good when warm, I wouldn't get too worried about cold start setup As long as it starts, runs well and idles somewhere that feels right for you for driving off etc....never worry too much. You'll only be on the ...

Re: 3.5 SU Fast Idle Setup
Choke needs to be out as far as it needs. Neither full, middle, or anywhere, just whatever is needed at any particular time. That's why cables of old were fairly rigid, or could be locked at any position. Really, balance and tune the carbs when warm and get that bit right and then start to address a...

Re: water meth on a blown v8
I have it, IMG_8486.jpeg I’m running a fair bit of boost, I have 8 injectors in the “hat” and 8 in the manifold. You can see the water/meth injectors above the blower. I’m using a fuel tech 550 to “run” everything. Under boost, most of the fueling is done in the manifold, the water/meth keeps the r...

Re: Rotrex supercharger on P38 engine
On the surface of it, it looks like a simple matter of getting the right pulley size and right version of the Rotrex unit. But I confess to being a bit unsure how the engine can suck through it when it's not pumping as much as the engine needs, e.g. floor it at idle. Chris. How can an engine suck t...

Re: Rotrex supercharger on P38 engine
What application ? Centrifugals don't offer a lot low down in the rpm's, so if that's where you spend most time, you may not get great results. I don't know much about the Motronic system, but adding boost of any kind and just hoping for the best, is a bit of a stretch on most systems. Although if i...

Re: water meth on a blown v8
does it even need it, and what are you trying to achieve ? Is there any sort of charge cooling going on at all ? I'd kinda say this is not a great application for it unless the thing is already on the ragged edge in terms of tuning and CR etc, with poor fuel quality. I'd say there's zero point spray...
