Re: MAP sensors, anybody know a component number?
The other sensor looks like it would be useful for something different I thought up some time ago which is a fuel pressure sensor which measures fuel pressure relative to manifold pressure which should be a constant figure. My ecu does this as standard. Relative FP is ideal for fuel pressure safety...

Re: MAP sensors, anybody know a component number?
I'm sure there are others. https://shop.vems.hu/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=127&ceid=00908083e18ba87ceb4c9b0fc0537ed3 Plus some OEM use them for DPF monitoring. https://www.delphiautoparts.com/gbr/en/resource-center/making-sense-your-sensors-dpf-differential-pressure-sensor Cheers Steve. Re: MAP sensors, anybody know a component number?
That's interesting, I was looking for a differential pressure sensor (for a different project) but struggled to find one, you don't have a suggested part type/name/number do you?stevieturbo wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 9:07 pmIf you just want to ensure both are the same.....use a pressure differential sensor.
one sensor will do both.

Re: MAP sensors, anybody know a component number?
Do know that MS uses a different algorithm for throttle bodies rather than a plenum. Presumably because of the less than smooth MAP signal? I'm wondering if it would be easier to measure the average noise (SPL) from each TB? In carb days, I found a good pair of ears at least as good and any device ...

Re: MAP sensors, anybody know a component number?
If you're trying to use them in single runners on the engine side of the blade, they will pulse like mad and need to be heavily damped to get any sort of usable reading from them But for a cheap 1 bar...find one off a used vehicle. Then find 8 more. Should be able to get them very cheap. ie, less t...

MAP sensors, anybody know a component number?
Hi all, I'm currently looking at putting a project together to aid throttle body balancing and also for checking the balance under load. My idea is to use a number of MAP sensors (2 to start off with) coupled to a micro-controller and display the readings on a small screen and also data log them to ...

Re: Crankshaft pulleys . . . .
On my "Old style/Pre-GEMS" engine I use a P6 pulley which is quite short. I only drive the alternator and water pump (from same belt) so no secondary pulleys mounted fore/aft of the main one. The mass damper is separate, mounted engine side of the pulley vs the GEMS type which is inline so the mass...

Re: Can Anyone Help?
It may be useful to know what engine the car is using and possibly what induction & ignition systems used in case something specific/specialist.

Re: Hotwire injection system.
The purpose of a narrow band lambda sensor is to keep the mixture at near stoich for the cats. Can't see any practical advantage in fitting them with no cats. A wideband, a different matter. Assuming your ECU can make use of one, which I doubt the 14CU can. With my MegaSquirt, the mixture varies be...

Re: pressure gauge Schrader valve location
Are you absolutely sure there is no Schrader valve on the rail and it's not hiding under something or "disguised" somhow? Unfortunately your inlet has a screw on fitting for the rail so you really need a T piece with simlar male and female connections to break it into that line which may not be so e...

Re: Hotwire injection system.
Without cats the mixture can vary from optimal for maximum power (rich) to best for MPG at cruise (lean) A simple lambda sensor for a cat tends to keep it near constant. Well I don't think it's so much the cats as the Lambda sensors which adjust the mixture. OK, sounds like I'm being a pedant but t...

Re: 3.9 efi problem
Bad news….. can’t find anywhere to plug fuel pressure gauge in to !!! Bu99er! That’s weird, I’ve examined a number of these systems and never seen one without a Schrader valve somewhere on the fuel rail, although they do appear in different areas. In the absence of that you could undo the fuel inle...

Re: 3.9 efi problem
So you think I’ve made it worse? I don’t profess any expertise. Base idle with the airway plugged was 525 rpm. When reconnected the idle was a very steady 750rpm. Bypass varying between 0 and 15% As you notice the bypass showed 0 I. The pic. Before adjusting the Allen screw the base idle was 600rpm...

Re: 3.9 efi problem
Finally got a chance to play today before today the gear selected was drive/park and now its categorically manual, the 510 ohm resistor has had some impact base idle was off at 600 as previous set, now at 525 with bypass airway blocked. Idles nicely at 750rpm connected. lambda readings have changed...
