Heres the RV8 linked to the 944 torque tube, there is a 944 flywheel and clutch in there all centred and working https://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/gallery/Rover%20to%20Porsche%203.JPG After a lot...

I now have a V8 engine to work with
Just been delivered, a 3.5L SD1, 11A25.... engine number so probably a late 70's Auto. Its had some weird manual conversion, which retained the flex plate, and had a plain flywheel bolted over the top, and a steel conversion ring, the plain flywheel might be handy if I can mate it to the 944 clutch,...

Thanks for the advice chaps. Prophead that does look really cool, thank you for taking the time to do that write up, its most useful and motivating. I was thinking of a gm180 bellhousing and concentric slave, maybe Saab, they seem common place in kit cars, Id hope I can get one for a fraction of the...

I agree the 944 engine isn't bad, and mine is pretty good, but has some bore and ring wear, I fitted new rings, and whilst its a little better it still smokes a bit, the Alusil bores are extremely expensive to recover, steel liners usually, then special pistons............... Now the real reason, I ...

RV8, keeping it short
I just managed to find a Manual SD1 V8 for my Porsche 944 conversion, it has the flywheel and clutch, which I think was a bonus.. Last time I was involved with these engines, it was to fit one into an MGB, and the way to keep it short was to fit the P5 / P6 water pump and crank pulley. Since then th...

Thanks Dave, I've just converted an E Type to injection / ExtraEFI MS2, and getting pretty familiar with MS, I'd post pics but its 2 pots short  I need to find an engine, and I think a GM180 bell housing with a concentric slave will best suit my need, I was also thinking of using a Holley carb ...

Hello New Builder in Sheffield
Hi All, I'm Pete from Sheffield, and have a bit of a history with V8s, did a 302cu Capri way back in 1979, and a couple of V8 MGBs in the mid 90s. I'm about to start collecting the parts to fit an RV8 into my Porsche 944, not sure which variant yet, but only looking for 200 ish BHP, would have liked...
