5 litre Wildcat stroker motor advice
Hi all, Years since I posted on here. Looking for advice on my current build. I have an interim 3.9 block that has the full width caps. I have had the cross bolt holes drilled and taped. I intend to have the block top hat linered by V8 dev and bored to 96mm. I have a pair of Wildcat heads, together ...

Re: Whining alternator problem
The pump is behind the back wheel, but it is definitely the alternator whining. Another suspected culprit is my starter motor, if that has a short in it maybe that is causing a massive load on the alternator? The starter is only 6 weeks old though. I find it very suspicious that the noise goes away ...

Whining alternator problem
Hi, long time since I have posted on here. I am having a weird problem the the alternator on my 1996 serp Chimaera. Started whining a few weeks ago. Suspected the alternator, so replaced it, and also the tensioner. However, the whining remains, and it is unmistakably coming from the new alternator. ...

Chimaera diff rebuild
Has anyone any experience of the BTR diff in the Chimaera? I think the same diff is used in Morgans and Marcos also. Mine has an iritating clunk when you pull away or let the power on and off. It has play in the output shafts both fore and aft, up and down and in and out. I don't think there is any ...

Cheers for the info dnb. Stevieturbo, the boots on my current leads are straight, and they are close to touching on no 8 if I connect them straight to the plug. Just tried a lead with 135 deg boot, and that clears easily. More than half an inch from the header. Just have to be careful to not let the...

Ceramic ACELL ceramic plug leads
Hi, I want to delete the stooopid spark plug extenders on my Chimaera as I think they may be causing me some problems, plus they are a pain to get on and off. They are just there to move the lead boots away from the header heat. Has anyone any experience of plug wires like these with ceramic ends? h...

Planned engine build. 4.6 Rover
Hi, Got a drunken ebay bid on a 4.6 crank, 4.0 litre rods and new set of Manley forged flat top pistons. Thought they would make a good basis for a performance build. However with early 36cc heads, that combo with composite gaskets is going to give me a static compression in excess of 13:1. I know I...

Not quite sure. My tool came with a variety of dies and made the ends I wanted OK. But you do need to start out with a square end - I used a pipe cutter. This is the type of flare. It is the clutch pipe from the master cylinder on my Chimaera. It keeps weaping http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b5...

Re: Brake pipes made up in Newbury/Basingrad area
Hi, Can anyone recommend where I can get a clutch pipe made up in Newbury or Basingstoke. Don't know the sizes I need until I take it off and no one else seems to know for certain, so I need to be able to wait while they do them. Is the clutch pipe between the master cylinder in distribution block ...

Caerbont speedometer. Chimaera
My odometer in my TVR is stuck on 59999 and trip counter doesn't work either. Speedometer is fine. Apparently 'they all do that sir'. Have tried using the recommended procedure: walloping the dash and tapping the glass, but to no avail. Have removed it this afternoon. Does anyone know how I can get ...

Was washing Trev earlier, and put my hand through the rear window. Stitching just all rotten. Don't think it's worth having just the screen replaced, as the hood itself is past its best. Has anyone any experience of diy fitting a replacement. Found rear section and new targa cover for 245+vat beer v...

Re: Temp sensor connector type, land rover
Hi, Dead simple question . Can anyone tell me what type of connector this is? Is it just an ordinary automotive bullet connector? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141113518468?clk_rvr_id=1002634642355&rmvSB=true It's to convert the temperature gauge in my TVR to use the rover temperature sensor instead of...
