Just noticed this thread. This was my old car. I should never have sold it!! It did have a cross bolted thor injected 4.0 from a series 2 discovery. I spent 3 years building it and it spent about 6 months on the road. I ended up selling it because I moved from south east england to west wales and my...

Thanks for the replies chaps. I did think about carb icing but I wouldn't have thought the carb would ice at low speeds, its been doing it for a few months now and never really had a lot of time to look into it properly but it seems to be getting worse and it's getting on my wick now so summat has t...

Intermittant running problem
Not sure where to post this so put it in this section........... My 3.5 cortina has a strange intermittant running problem................ start it up in the morning to go to work, starts fine, runs fine, drives fine for about a mile or two, then only at light throttle it judders/holds back, coughs ...

Borg warner 66 juddering when hot
I have a borg warner 66 auto box in my RV8 powered cortina, ever since the engine and box went in, I've had a juddering from the drive train under acceleration in 1st and 2nd but only when hot, its fine when cold. The ATF is still nice and clean so the box isn't burning out but it does feel like its...

temp sensor thread sizes
I'm using an edlelbrock performer manifold on my rv8 powered cortina, the temp sensor thread is the same as the sd1 and at the moment i'm using an sd1 sender but its not quite the right resistance for my gauge, the gauge i'm using is a cyberdyne digital (as are all the gauges), the sender supplied w...

Update............. I've gone back to .86 19 31 It was running ok with .83 18 28 but the engine was getting a lot hotter than usual and there was a very slight flat spot on acceleration, that could have been cured by putting the accelerator pump back on the middle hole but I wasn't keen on the high ...

I doubt a cat would last long if you kept the su's as the fuelling isn't accurate enough. If I was doing this then I'd fit an efi engine from a late range rover or discovery. You'd be better off buying a crashed discovery or something similar, that way, you'd have everything you need. a few years ag...

Bit of an update, I've got myself a jet and rod kit from rpi......... Float heights were miles out so I've re-set them, got a fuel pressure gauge on it now and fuel pressure is set to 4 psi, a bit on the low side but performance is not affected, just doing that made a big difference on economy. as f...

It could well be the WOT settings are bang on and you need to set the light/part throttle stuff which at the mo is too rich. This is funnily enough how mine started out, changing to a mallory dizzy improved it no end too. Thats what I'm thinking, at full throttle, it pulls like a train and there is...

May be the carb is too big for your application, even a 390cfm is probably too big for a 3.5 unless you are using above 6000rpm. You may be having fuel atomisation problems associated low air speed thru the carb, then, oh its not responding, and pumping more fuel in with the accellerator pump tryin...
