I'm getting confused here, you're planning on using a GEMS manifold because the heater outlet does not run underneath, but it does not have provision for the two water temp sensors? You are not using a hotwire manifold because it has a steel pipe that runs underneath but has all of the required wat...

If we're talking about the stock green band injectors, they're 230cc/min. They can flow enough for about 270bhp on a sensible 80% duty cycle & about 320bhp running them flat out (all figures @ 3bar) You can of course turn the fuel pressure up as well, they seem to work fine at 3.5 bar. Thanks :D I ...

Thanks all, maybe not such a stupid question after all :D I'm on a very tight budget on all my projects now, so anything I buy really has to have a good justification. The Audi fuel rails were damaged on removal of the engine, and are a bit over-complicated for what I want, so the plan is to buy som...

Hotwire injectors
I think I have an issue with some of the injectors on my SD1 not flowing equally, some of the plugs are sooty and others clean. I've got a spare set so will swap them over as it doesn't cost me anything to do apart from time. I'm curious as to what the maximum power can be had from them? I have an A...

Update time I got the engine back together, in and running late Saturday, had a few issues with snapped bolts and bodges to the timing cover water pump bosses that needed sorting along the way. Only last night was I able to take the SD1 out for a proper blast, and now there's no misfires or horrible...

I've washed the sump out, and was suprised at how little crud and sludge there was in the bottom, the timing cover didn't have the usual baked on black crap inside which was a suprise too! The oil pump cover has only slight polishing in the grey surface where the gears run, none of my previous V8's ...

One thing occurs to me though, where are all the filings from what is a relatively large lump of metal? I would be inclined to fully strip and rebuild the engine after that one as you dont know what else may have been damaged by all those bits of metal flying around. As others have said it looks li...

Excellent news. Always good to find the fault. Completely, I can only imagine as the exhaust is essentially blocked off on no.3 that as it went over 4000rpm it was enough to audibly blow back through the intake killing performance. Also be interesting to see how the general economy and emissions ch...

I asked about the plug type since when I was going EDIS, the lot on the MS forum were adamant you must use resistor plugs, so I did. But I don't know what happens if you don't, as I've not tried it. However, if you were getting same misfire with the dizzy, it's unlikely to be that. Forgot to check ...

Can you give the plug number? I forgot this evening, too busy getting the engine out and on the floor should have started engine in the dark and looked at distributor To me it sounds like some cross arcing of spark plugs and 4000 rpm - your dizzy could jut be adding enough advance to start it at th...
