Ahh but then again the throttle response in lifting carbs like su's aret as good IMHO - if you are making adaptor plates then perhaps 2 twin choke webers like on the ford cross flow etc- but I think in general the fuel injection manifold and the SU manifold are poor and "dog leggy" in comparison to ...

Not wanting to be a pooper, but the fans/advantages would seem minimal to me- the stansard manifold is not a great design - and a well set up pair of us carbs can flow almost as much as a small 4 barrel - and the manifold will not flow sufficiently to allow to carb to function to its full potential ...

I would come along mate for a laugh! Also have been thinking - Would anybody be up for booking a club space for the V8 Forum at the retro show at santa pod? I know some of you guys may already be exhibiting with other clubs, but if there are 10 people I am happy to book it and get everything sorted....

Well done on buying that rare vehicle. Not your question I realise - but what do you plan with it?? I don't know anything about the EM setup of the 4.0 defender - so can help. Shame is every one of the 50th I have ever seem we're rusty, not looked after and properly dog- pearled at the edges! I'm su...

I purchased the AEM unit - it was about 140 delivered. I pondered for a while - but honestly it is the single best performance modification I made!! Without it my carb would be way off, I would have blown my pistons out - and my NoS setup would be hopeless! You guess and guess and guess, but you are...

Mike - the plot has thickened! Have sent back the cast crank due to all this musing! And for an extra 300 quid I have/am upgrading to a fully forged scat crank and rods!! So going for the future proof- bullet proof setup;-) So perhaps not quite as basic as before:-) Will chat tomorrow - but think I ...

Pel, you are spot on!! I am over thinking the issue. I already add toluene to pump gas to avoid detonation, and I think I should just carry on with what I am doing with both rover and chevy setups Think I will play by ear - as you say - just gently work my way up - have thought about methanol/water ...

NOS with exclusively methanol on a HC engine
I realise this is a bit left field from my most recent postings - but thinking about my latest build and CR etc - and I am a fan of high CR NA engines - my current rover is over 10:1 and the chevy I am building 383 with flat tops - is heading for about 11-11.2:1 CR - good to maintain. Pressures on a...

Guys - have chatted with my vendor, they have offered to exchange my crank for a forged 4340 item for an extra 270 pounds, think I will go for this, ans the cost of cryo and internal balance etc will be saved - and then I would still have a cast crank. Basically I then have a future proof bottom end...
