I did, found it worked but made a awful noise on disengaging from flywheel, thought it was faulty and changed but still there, in the end lived with it for a few weeks and it settled, guess it needed bedding in to the old flywheel, did make me cringe badly ever time thou so be warned, works well now...

Just an update, after removing and double checking everything I found no differences with the geared starter compared to the original, same teeth, diameter etc, therefore ordered a replacement from Rimmers. This they changed no problem and where very happy to exchange, fitted it and exactly the same...

Anyone have any dealings with these geared starter motors? Just had one from Rimmer bros, the old SD1 kept packing in every 6 months, soleonids packing up after car only being used 6 months of the year; All fitted ok, and starts no problem, on disengaging it makes a loud screech noise, sounds painfu...

oil capacity? how much
I have a 3.9 engine which has a 3.5 SD1 sump on, unsure if dip stick is for the 3.5 or 3.9, any idea how much I should put in? I guess the same as a 3.5 but dont know how much that is, theres no oil cooler etc, its standard oil wise, thankyou

im in Folkestone, M20 ,straight passed the Detling turn off and carry on down to J12, 5 minutes from there.
