Hi, Thanks for the thought :) It's a bit hard to explain what the layout is. Basically with the engine mounted in the back, we want the rear axle to be behind the timing cover. Working forwards, it'll then have a gearbox with prop output. Short prop or double UJ's and then onto transfer box. Speakin...

Thanks for the replies. The 4hp22 isn't all that short. I measured a 4l60 yesterday and that was shorter. The 4l60 would give me better gearing but is quite pricey by the time you've fitted a controller. The th350 seems the shortest. Can anyone advise where to get an adaptor plate. I've seen the thr...

Shortest Auto for Rover V8 - TH350 info ?
Evening, I'm building an offroad buggy that will run a 4.6 rover v8. At the moment i've got a 4hp22 in another buggy which is on the list to use. However with the new one i will mount the engine in the rear and run a reverse rotation transfer box. I also have unimog portal axles, which unfortunately...

Rover 4.2 v8 Windage Tray With Range Rover Sump
Evening, I'm away at the moment but will be home on Friday and competing on the Sunday. Lately i've been having oil suction trouble and have thought about trying a windage tray that i've got for an SD1. Maybe it'll make a difference ? Can anyone tell me if there is enough space to fit this with a ra...

I'm a bit confused TBH. The standard sump pans are deep at the rear so going uphill should only really be suited by the design at a glance. Sure you have enough oil in the sump so that when the accumulator has gulped up it's load + everything else circulating? You might be able to make the pickup g...

Thanks for the answers. Yes i do have some space below the engine to make it deeper. 2 accusumps .... would work i guess, but i'm not keen on it. dry sump - as i mentioned in my opening post, i have a pump to install but it won't fit in this current truck (not enough space for an extra pulley on the...

Sump Plans
Hello, I drive an offroad truck that has a 4.2 rv8 in it. Runs perfectly, just on really steep climbs i'm loosing oil pressure. Which nearly put me on my roof this weekend just gone as i had to switch off the motor (i run hydraulic winches from the engine) ! I'm running a dizzy type oil pump unfortu...

If you go for a tadpole relief, John Eales will sell you one for not very much :) You also have to round off your oil pump cover so that the tadpole seats nicely. I sent my cover to john and he rounded it off to suit. Again, didn't cost much at all and was back to me the next day :) From what you've...

Which Cam for a P38 4.6 on lpg ?
Well, this morning on my way to work my 4.6 crossed the 150,000 mile mark 8-) I did the headgaskets about 5,000 miles ago due to it breaking between cylinder 6 and atmosphere. No water / oil mixing. It's been running fine since then :) I did not get the block pressure tested for slipped liners etc, ...

On my 4.2 manifold (same as yours) i drilled and tapped a hole where the thermo sender is on the 3.5 - next to the ecu's sender. So I now have the standard gauge as well as well as my own mechanical temp gauge. I run my truck with highish rev's, low speeds and rear mounted rad so cooling monitoring ...

The air temp sensor in the plenum giving a false reading wasn't something I thought about at the time. I think it usually reads up to about 70deg but it isn't something I have really checked at this stage. Wouldn't be too much trouble to move it though. Where did you site yours? By the way what is ...

Cheers for the quick reply. So you're basically saying no to the check valve. I'll be t'ing in at my remote filter head as this is the most convenient place. A small part of me is saying to install the epc valve but turn it down so the solenoid is in effect closed between 20 and 25psi (or there abou...
