Re: Forged pistons and rods

I have for the past 2 years been working away on my engine based on a 4.6 block. I have done (except for top hat liners and crank grinding) the machining myself. I need to advise you that there was considerable work in machining everything to fit..I doubt if it's realistic if you're paying a machine...

Re: Roller cam and hydraulic lifters

Thanks..A lot of my question are on the heads..the stronger springs and the new installed height mean deepening the valve spring seats..and using spring locators.. however by using TA heads you've not needed to worry about this.

Roller cam and hydraulic lifters

Has anyone fitted a roller cam with roller hydraulic lifters and roller rockers..either sets from TRS in Australia or TA Performance or TWS in the US. I'd be interested in any feedabck regarding reliability, ease of installation, spring rates, lifter bore wear (either due to spring rates or extra li...

Re: 5 litre Wildcat stroker motor advice

For what's worth, I favour the larger journal crank. I'm building a 4.6 block with a stroked 4.8 crank for a supercharged engine..aiming too at around 400hp. Every bit of strength in the block/crank will be desired.

Re: Piston weight..balancing

They are out of the box that way..a bit disappointing for a reputable brand. I did some test machining last night..if I come in at a shallow 30 degs, I need to 1mm depth to remove 1g..so doing both ends of the pin gives me the 2g I'm after. This leaves heaps of untouch material around the OD. Thanks...

Piston weight..balancing

Why are there millions of recommendations to remove weight off a piston, yet champfering the inside of a gudgeon pin is easier and less material needs to be removed as steel is heavier.? I'd like to remove 2.5 grams off a 2618 forged piston.. that's a far bit of aluminium off various places undernea...

Rover V8 with 3.736 bore

For those who have fitted Chev 3.736 pistons (94.94mm), what head gaskets have you used?. Cometic do a MLS in either 94mm or 96mm...Ideally a 95mm would be great..

Tom Suggestions are: In all tables when coolant temp in used, create even entries across the entire engine temp range..I.e. -15 to 105 Smooth your VE table. Autotune has made it look very spikey WUE needs to be more linear Tuning with 2 squirts is a lot easy than 4.. You do seem to have very big inj...

Tom

I have looked at your log..& have lots of questions. I'd really like to see your msq file.
You seem to running lots of warm up correction weill into the 80 degs..and little changes in VE have large pulse width changes.

I have a S/C Griffith 500 running MS3. Happy to hrlp further if needed

Here's an update: I did eventually purchase the rockers (650153/4) however I don't know the manufacturer.. and as described in extended detail on another Rover V8 site (I have a TVR), suffered a drop in oil pressure due to the excessive oil galleries cut in the rockers. I went back to the original r...

Thanks all.

I assumed OEM is "Other Equipment Manufacturer" (taken from my old IT days).. but I suppose in this context it could be "Original EM"

Now I am not sure..

Quality Rockers??

I need to replace the rockers and shafts as upon inspection, mine are quite badly scored. There seems to be a massive price variety of rockers and shafters..cheap OEM or expensive genuine parts. How can you tell the difference quality wise and I am thinking that a stealth cam and double valve spring...
