It appears to be 3mm square speedometer drive hole. Cannot accurately measure it because I can barely get my fingers to it without remove my exhaust pipe. But the 3mm square cable tip slips in.

Inner steel speedometer cable drive for R380
Trying to get a custom speedometer cable made up for fit my R380. I need to know how the transmission end of the inner steel speedometer cable is configured. I already know the length and how the dash end is configured. My assumption is that the inner steel cable that fits into the transmission is 3...

Can I remove the glass cover from a VDO oil pressure gauge??
I have a VDO oil pressure gauge and would like to remove the glass covers and discard it. You can not see the gauge very well due to the glare off the glass. The gauge will be cover by a polycarbonate sheet(which does not glare) and you will not be able to see the outer steel case either. It appears...

When you turn the motor off, the stepper motor opens up by 200 steps. This causes the start up RPM to be 1500, then it settles down to the programmed idle speed. Most idle problems are caused by incorrect base idle speed. The stepper motor should only have to add 50 to 100 rpms to the base idle spee...

Lucas I am assuming you have the 14CUX system, not the GEMS system?? The fuel temp sensor is used for hot start-up. It is also used to turn on the electric fans for 10 minutes if the temp gets too high. Temp sensor esistance gets lower as the temp rises. So if the coolant sensor is not working due t...

Lucas If just one of the spark plugs is black then you have a leaking injector. If one of the grounding straps has been disconnected then there will be kaos under your hood. There should be a grounding strap going from the block to chassis. There should be a grounding strap going from(the back) one ...

Decided to machine my own thermostat housing which goes straight out. This is for my TR8, which has the serp front cover, Mallory dist, and one-off radiator. The Range Rover and TR8 thermostat housings go off in some direction. With my straight design the top hose clears my distributor and alternato...

Shaun The 3AM and 5AM are completely interchangeable. These are extremely reliable air flow meters. Unfortunatly they have an ID of only 55mm. This might be a problem on a highly tuned engine at full throttle. You can machine the inlet and outlet of this AFM. Here is a picture of how I machine the i...

There is no thermostat in the front cover. There is a pressure relief valve in the cover which cause some portion of the oil flow to bypass the oil filter(back to the sump) if it is filled with "dirt". Dirt creates resistance. resistance creates larger pressure differention before and after the filt...

I too would be very interested in adding computerized ignition and sequential injection to my 14CUX controlled engines. The main benefits of sequential are at low rpm and for emissions. The lower the rpm, the more beneficial. This can allow for a smoother idle and lower idle speed. At high engine rp...

Yes, meant to type 3952cc. If ever I do calculate the actual CR, then will be sure to use the correct equation. A baby formula bottle is accurate to about 5cc. Have used that to CC intake runners. But would use a proper burrette if going for zero variation in CR. Based on your replys...will assume t...
