Just to add another company to the mix. Both my front and rear prop on my landy have been made by these guys http://www.barpropshafts.co.uk/ They are local to me but I know of one garage in Lincolnshire that uses them for all their cv/prop orders as they are very good. My prop was a rear wide angle ...

Is it ok to mount the fan to rad with cable ties through the fins then? Obviously if I'm careful! The fan doesn't weight much. I fitted my fan this ay to my series land rover. A weekend off roading and uit had shaken loose and pulled a hole in the rad, which resulted in all the water escaping on th...

I run my RV8 in the bobtail at 84.3c on 79.8c off. IMHO running an RV8 any where over 88c is asking for trouble and 92c + is gonna cook it. I take my temp reading from the coolant sensor which has been calibrated in MegaSquirt so hopefully is as near as correct as possible. The temp guage in the da...

I assume you need a special piece of kit to do a leak down test? The bank thats shaowing 120psi was the first to be tested so battery condition should not be an issue (its a good battery too). Also the engine was cranked 5 times for each cylinder. I went back to cylinder 2 (120psi) after I completed...

Compression Differences between heads
Evening all, Some of you may remember I posted just before new years that my engine suffered a seriouse ovr heat and compression was down to 80psi or so per cylinder. Anyhow I put new heads on over new year break and have only now had a chance to do another compression test. Anyhow the right hand ba...

I ended up putting it in the top hose mainly due to room.. Not a lot of space in the bottom hose. I have used the lower setting and it cuts in and out fine, and is on for around 90 seconds before i switches back off and runs on when the engines off which is good. It doesn't some on while driving as ...

One more question then I promise  My airbleed between the carbs is currently blocked off as I have no port on the new rad to fit it. If I was to fit the x-fan kit in the top hose, would it be suitible to tap the fan switch housing to also accept a small port for the air bleed. The engineering ...

If I moved the radiator forward I would probably go ahead and fit a larger 90 radiator or something. I want to keep the standard series look and indeed the bonnet. Its an Ex-mod, so whilst not being a painted in camo and all that I still want it to look as close to original as possible but with plen...

All RV8 viscous fan units sense the temperature immediately behind the dead centre of the radiator. Is this, I wonder, trying to tell us to fit a fan stat switch somewhere similar? I would guess the viscous fans tempreture sensing in the middle of the rad is purely because the fan has to sit centra...

Thats another option then.. Although using the existing series front end I don't have a world of room under the bonnet for an expansion tank. I have an overflow tank thing on the side of the radiator thats not pressurised, but obviously thats no good for this application. Funnily enough I was in Can...

Rover Manifold bleed pipe
When I fitted my V8 into my landy I drilled and soldered a piece of pipe into the top of the radiator header tank for the coolant bleed pipe between the carbs on the inlet manifold. This worked well. However i have now replaced the radiator with a brand new one and am reluctant to drill it untill it...

Thanks for the great explanations and balanced views guys. Unfortunately it has probably made the decision more confusing :) It is indeed the x-fan kit I have. I am going to drain all of the coolant out on the weekend and take a look at my options. The top hose needs replacing anyway as its currentl...

Thermostatic switch setting
Hey guys, I have a pretty standard tune 3.5 Rover V8 on SU's in my series land rover. It has an 82 degree stat and a brand new four core radiator. I am installing a thermostatic switch to control the 15" electric fan on the outside of the radiator (push). The switch I have has two settings on at 88 ...
