On SU's it is at the base of the carb in a really awkward position... Once everything is installed it is on inboard side and ends up in the valley formed by rocker cover and inlet manifold (See number 9)

I have no experience of Strombergs, but i did recently strip down, clean and reassemble my SU's with all new seals. All i can say is that it was amazingly simple! My carb experience until then had only been the smaller Weber and Zenith carbs used on the 2.25 LR lumps and they were complicated in com...

If you are using EDIS8 controller (which the Meagsquirt will take charge of) you can use either 1xEDIS8 coilpack, or 2x EDIS4 coil packs as far as i know. You cannot use 2x EDIS4 controllers to control the coils in an 8 cylinder config though. Not sure of the case if you are using the MS to trigger ...

You might want to check out www.lr4x4.com as they have a few threads on megasquirt in the technical archives, and i think there is a massive 18 page thread in the "tools and fabrication" section....

Air splitter thingamabobs in inlet manifold...
These were in the intake between the carbs and the manifold. I believe the nylon block is to isolate the carbs from too much heat (may be wrong) but what do the metal tongues do? I'm guessing that they split the airflow, but other carb manifolds i have disassembled havent had anything in there. :sho...

Thanks Pete! Will hook it up to a coil and see if i get a spark first, assuming that's ok I will checkout the springs and see what condition they are in. :D I should also say i picked up some 10bolt heads for the rebuild too- much nicer than the SD1 jobs i had to work with before, better seals large...

Lucas Dizzy (DLM8?)- testing operation (out of car)
Guys, I have a Lucas distributor with the two wire module on the side that i picked up cheap to use on the 3.5 i am rebuilding. As the engine is in bits right now is there anyway i can test the dizzy on the bench to ensure it actually works before i get to the big startup and find its dead? Th...

So, is running an engine unloaded ok for bedding in a new cam alone? I am currently building up the block Pete/Sidecar kindly donated, this has done 5000 miles with the crank and pistons as fitted but i will be using a new cam. Ideally i want to be able to run it (and therefore run it in) before i f...

3 into 1- RV8 rebuild questions
After lurking around these boards for some time and reading much of the excellent info on here i have decided to join and ask a couple of questions of my own.... I am planning on fitting a 3.5 v8 into my 1984 LR90, which currently has the rover 2.25 fitted. With a view to doing this i bought...
