late rv8 front cover

Hi,before i make another cock up can anyone tell me if there is any way to modify this cover to go in my mgb,because filter points down it would go through rack,sandwich plate would be to deep/thick,i think if i leave lower the oil pressure relief valve as it is,remove the higher one,block off filter housing and oil cooler return and bore and tap switch housing this will allow me to fit remote filter,does that make sense?thoughts please,want to run FI, fully sequential with coil packs,don't want dizzy,thoughts or

I had a similar problem in my Landie.
I blanked off the place where the oil filter goes:
and made up a very tight bend:
The remote filter head is plumbed in where the oil cooler would have been connected to, and the internal valves have been removed / blocked as required.
It works OK, but I do have an issue where it takes a few seconds to build pressure. Pressure is in the 60's when it comes though. I'm not sure if it's related to this or not.

Have you consider the 'Interim type cover' and just blank the dizzy hole.
The oil filter is at an angle on these covers just like the earlier covers.
However the 'interim' cover will put the waterpump about 20mm further forward than the latest non dizzy type cover.

cheers for replies,does interim cover have cam sensor hole?the 20mm may not be an issue as can think of a couple ways round that ie set block back a bit further or use ewp

The interim cover does not have the cam sensor hole but the position is defined in the casting on the cover but the hole is not drilled. You would need to drill a hole to suit a cam sensor but the location will be 20mm further forward from the cam wheel so a bespoke sensor would be needed.
I assume you are aware that if you use the later non dizzy type cover, you will also need to use the later type pick up and sump as the front bolt pattern is different.

i have the complete 4.6 rebuilt apart from waiting for forged pistons from usa,i would rather use this cover if poss as said earlier if you look carefully at gallerys it appears that you can leave relief valve in place and take oil from filter housing and pipe to switch tapping(suitably enlarged)just wodered if anyone else has done it,chris in post above has done something similar,thanks for looking

There are 2 variations of p38 front cover, the other one has the filter angled forward (visually identical to the intermediate cover filter housing).
I've got one kicking around that I am unlikely to ever use.

Any chance of a photo of the cover.
I have a project also which will require a non dizzy cover with the filter at an angle. But I've never seen one.

The angled oil filter is achieved through an extension piece.
I used the angled one for my mod, and removed the angled piece. It is the fixings for the angled piece that I reused for my blanking plate.
