rebuilt 3.9 v8, ready to be run up.
slight coolant leak from gasket /head running down onto the block under no 1 cylinder.
Tried a short bolt in outer (unused ) bolt hole, no difference.
Any ideas or is it a strip down and new gasket ?

Radweld solves it. Used on our 3.9 and had no problems since

If its leaking coolant from cold without being run then DONT run it !!!!
You need to fix the leak first....
It may just be some crud on the mating faces. If you run the engine the water system pressure will rise and the leak will get worse. Dont risk any damage for the sake of finishing the job off properly.
Get the head cheacked to make sure its flat.

Thanks for the advice
Looks like the water pump gasket is leaking too

, so it's a strip down tomorrow.
