Im not sure if this is in the right section or not,

But might be useful to some,

Reason I bought this was to find out of my lucas system was running as it should

I'd not worry too much about readings when revving with no load. You need to log it in some way on the road - AFR versus revs versus manifold depression, etc.

It looks rather rich at idle, though.

Looks rich all round. Even on overrun it only manages 14, whereas you would expect that to be 16-18

Is it even worth trying to fix my lucas system?

Or just bin the lot and go after market ECU?

Thanks

Hi Alex, cant be to much wrong with your CUX system i.e faulty AFM etc, although i am biased towards MS on the RV8 :o

Ive checked every thing, voltages on afm, tps, running mark adams decat map

Fuel return line blocked?

Knackered cam?

Its not that bad - unless its down in the 11's when cruising.

I'm not quite clear what engine and injection you have - but the correct idle mixture on a 3.5 flapper should read about 14.1:1 AFR.

These systems don't go closed loop - so if it's well rich as it seems in your tests when revving light, it's likely to be so always.

Its the hotwire system

The engine is 4.6 mildly modded, kent 218 cam, heads, trumpets etc

Running a Mark Adams decatt chip

Modding an engine requires re-mapping. Just how well this has been done, I dunno. But I'd still find out why it's so rich as shown in your clip. Get that sorted may well improve everything else. Have you checked the fuel pressure?

If your running the non-cat map then the CO adjuster screw on the AFM will be back in play have you checked the idle CO % as this also affects fuelling further up the throttle range to a degree weather that's causing your problem to that amount I cant say for certain :(
