SU inlet for RV8

I've never noticed, until now, that not all RV8 inlet manifolds are the same for twin SU's. Ionly realised the difference as I have 2 and are different, the height of one is shorter than the other, both for SU's. I'm assuming it's for for different vehicles? Shorter one for a car, taller one for a 4x4 maybe? Can anyone enlighten me? And also I may have to modify one for a 4 barrel Holley so which one could be the better option?

There were two versions of the Rover manifold that were fitted to the P6B, those that had HS6 carburettors had the earlier version while those with HIF6 carburettors had the later and improved version. The pent roof on each though to my knowledge was the same in terms of external dimensions.
Range Rovers certainly here in Australia came with Zenith Stromberg carburettors as did the SD1 prior to fuel injection, and these manifolds may well have been different again.

How interesting - got any photos which show the difference?

i would imagine that the extra heigh is for the SU's ... they have a deeper bottom part to allow for the needles
..those are strombergs in the pictures ..i think ??.

So which would be the best power or torque?

Yes those carburettors are not SU items rather Zenith Strombergs.
Better power and torque in terms of what? The carburettors or the manifolds?

Which manifold would be best for torque or power?

The pent roof on my inlet manifold is 85mm or so, thus like the taller of the two that you have. I run it together with twin SU carbs on my 4.6 and the torque is incredible.
If it were me, I'd opt for the taller one of the two.
