Hi All
Having spoken breifly to Coops tonight has anyone else had a problem with Gaz adjustable shockers?
These are the rears that we are talking about here.
I have tried loads of different settings and different springs and no matter what they are rock hard with almost no travel.
I have only covered just over 1k miles and am getting fairly narked that no amount of adjustment improves the ride quality.
They seem to be seized.
Any comments?
cheers

Can you switch back to standard springs to isolate the damper* as being the cause?
Chris.

Gaz have said that I'm to send them back to them and they will test them on their test rig to see what is going on.
No cost to me for testing.
Hopefully this will get to the bottom of the problem.
Cheers

Hi All
Well what a difference a set of shocks make.
Fitted my pre Gaz Bilsteins and took her for a run and the ride was like a super comfy sofa compared to before so the Gaz ones will not be going back in once tested.
Many of the forums that I have bounced across looking for feedback on Gaz shocks have generally said that they are poor if not shocking things and whilst these are just opinions from other users I have to say that I think they are right.
I would be interested to hear if anyone else on here has used them on their car and what results they had.
Cheers

what happened? for a p6, they're one of the few brands that make the front shock. I was going to get a mate over in Wales to get me some and send them to me here in Aus...

Hi Ewok
After running my car with the old set up for this past season with the old Bilstein shocks back in I can honestly say that the ride difference has been massive.
The GAZ shocks were terrible and I would never recommend them to anyone.
A very good friend of mine had some brand new ones fitted to his V8 Moggy and he said to me that no matter what setting he put the shocks on it made no difference to the ride at all, it was constantly back breaking.
He has swapped them out for some AVO's and reports that these are superior in every way.
Whilst my opinion is just that, I'm sure that some users will swear by them.
If it was me I would put rocks in and use them as shockers, it will be more comfortable.

A mate fitted a GAZ conversion to his MGB rear end and it was stiff as fook no matter what. Then he added a pair of soft parabolic springs (twin leaf instead of 7 leaf standard) which seemed to give the Gaz dampers more work to do, and on the weakest Gaz setting the ride was very nice.
The stiff ride on GAZ conversions does seem to be an ongoing topic on a lot of forums from time to time??

Cheers guys for the replies. Funnily enough, a bloke with a p6b on the Rover forum has come to grief in fitting AVO's - the plastic bushes were completely out of whack at one end.
Ideally I'd just go for Koni's, but I can't seem to find a supplier online and the Aussie distributor in my city is apparently very expensive.

Have you tried Bilstein?
They have a huge range of applications anbd might be able to help you.
