LT77 detent (possibly) oddity

Just over the past few days of driving, I've noticed that it's become increasingly more difficult to accurately select gears, especially when the box is cold.
It's also very easy to select reverse, instead of 1st now, which it wasn't before - you had to lift up and notch it in, whereas now you can catch it by mistake.
The stick feels very slushy and doesn't really self centre.
Now, I see many adjustment points according to the SD1 manual but just thought I'd consult you, before I start messing about and maybe just worsen the issue

The box in question - Sherpa linkage, for short shifting action
Thanks all
