As per title really, need advice on what to use to clean my carbs. Not wanting or expecting a show finish just want them to look/be clean. Used gunk but still look a bit tarnished, any ideas :?:

Cellulose thinners are good at removing petrol stains.

If it's of any interest my mate does an ultrasonic carb cleaning service.

no use if you're only talking about the exterior though.

as above or http://www.aircooledtech.com/tools-on-t ... a_blaster/ . Soda blasting makes a really nice job of things like carbs.

I've had good results with Nitromors (paint stripper) when cleaning aluminium. Dab on, leave a few minutes, then rinse off.
Havent cleaned carbs with it but it worked well with my pistons. Just don't get it on your skin! or eyes for that matter

Auto solve always works well and if you can get hold of some 3m Imperial compound and fancy a bit of hand buffing(oh err missus) this will bring them up a treat.
The nitromors works brilliantly in the first instance though.

cheers
