Where's that Spark??

I have a RV8 4.6 with Edelbrock 500, SD1 front cover, i'm trying to get it running for the first time after an 18 month rebuild/refit into my MGB.

I have a 35DLM8 aftermarket distributor hardly used, DLB 198 coil (new),
new amplifier on distributor and lead from simonbbc today. There's 12 Volts at the coil +ve, .07 ohms across coil +ve and -ve (should be 1 ohm).

Took out no 7 spark plug, reconnected HT lead, laid it on engine inlet manifold, on turning over the engine there's no spark.

The question is (obviously!) - where to now??

I'm nearly ready solve the problem by jumping under the train, but not quite.
:? :( :?

The inlet manifold is probably painted, so not a good earth point. Try a screw head or make up a pig-tail that can earth on bare metal to check again and eliminate/confirm your suspicions.

Try the king lead for a spark - that will eliminate the rotor arm etc.
Next you need to make sure the coil negative is getting a ground as the dizzy turns. A dwell meter is ideal for this. Or an LED.
Are you sure the wiring between dizzy and amp is correct?
