My old man has two, one in a Daimler Dart and one in a V8 250

Oft wondered why the larger one as fitted to the Majestic Major never got used in other vehicles. The 2.5 had many alternatives within the BL stable - but the larger one not?
Was it simply too large, too heavy (can't imagine it being worse than the boat anchor C Series) or too expensive?

There's a Daimler Dart in the DLOC club that has a Majestic Major engine fitted, it's a very tight fit.
I'm not sure why they chose to use the Turner V8 rather than something else.

I didn't. I wish that was my work! I did rebuild the engine for my track car at home with a friend, but this one was too precious to do myself.
Also, with a new baby, I don't have time, and I'd still have to send it out for bodywork, painting, etc., so this was a better solution.
P.S. I'll be at the Daimler rally at Sandringham next month. Lots of other models of Daimler there, but I'm sure there will be plenty of V8s. I hope to catch a ride in one for the rally along the Norfolk coast, otherwise I'll be stuck in my hire car - a Focus or Golf or something... (!)

I'm not sure. This is my first Daimler meet, since I live in Canada.
I suspect, since it's on the Queen's estate, and we're allowed to browse her Daimler collection, that your car *might* not fit in...
Although it would be great fun to crash Sandringham with a Daimler hot rod, better yet, a rat rod with straight pipes!
