EDIS coil connector

Managed to break one of my EDIS 8 (4) coil LT connectors - the earlier type with the plastic arms on the side to lock it. Can find the later 'oval' type new, but not the earlier one. A good secondhand one would do.
Unless the later type fits?

May be of help

The pic on their site is of the later type which several sell. Unless I've missed something?

They fit the Gen 1 coil packs a bit further down the page.

They are indeed for the early coil. But of a a different design. My original Ford ones have two plastic locking levers on the outside of the body - these use an sprung wire arrangement similar to the junior power ones as used on injectors, etc.

They've changed since I bought some earlier this year as mine have plastic levers on them.

Yes - that's what confused me. I remember seeing identical ones to my originals on sale. And not knowing what the later coil used didn't help. ;-)

Someone call

Ok

The lead ends I do at the moment are for the Ford Generation 1 Coil pack, obviously 2 x for a V8, these packs are noticebale as they have a "Collar" where the lead end goes on around 15mm from the top. This allows the 2 "Prongs" of the plastic Cage to Lock On to the ring, as thus, for the application I work mainly in (4x4 off road racing) these give a near 100% waterproof connection.

However I have supplied a huge amount of these to track cars and other engines, where peeps have switched to the old G1 coils over the later type, the later type has no ring and is just a Push fit at the coil end, this can and does not give such a "Locked on" solution, plus the early coils rarely fail (Pattern ones excluded from the prev statement !) - ie Buy second hand Motorcraft or Ford only.

Here is a pic of the units I have

The brass terminals - both sides for clarity, the 90 degree rubber boot, and the clip to lock in in.

Image

These units will NOT fit the later smooth fitting Type 2, these use a completely differing system, and are indentifyable by a "Pin" in the centre and base of the insides of the output tower, not even the brasses above fit.

Hope this helps

Nige

Sorry - we're at cross purposes here. It's the LT (12v) connector I'm talking about, not the HT (plug lead) ones. I've got lots of the latter. :D

Come with 3 x gromets and 3 x pins each and fit both types of Coil Pack units - PM me if you wnat them, esp at the price above,
DO NOT buy off my website even when I get around to listing them !

That's the one. As I said it's a different design from the originals I have. Which have two clips, one either side, rather like the plug lead ones.
