Could some one advise please , I wish to change my BW 35 gearbox for a ZF 4 speed 4HP-22 Automatic gearbox.
I see a lot for sale from range rovers but these have transfere box,s fitted , so could i use a box from say a BMW that used the ZF and change the bell housing from the range rover so it fits the V8 engine in my p5b.
Or should I use another box all together.

yes you can do that. Although the output shaft may be very short and need swapping for a longer one.

The jag version fits better and also has the correct flange, but the range rover bellhousing is much bigger

I have a 4speed range rover auto box which has a 2wd output tail and rover v8 bell housing, I had it built for a racing car but opted for a sequential in the end so its never been used, it has some 4.6 bits in it for strength of 1st gears if its going on a powerful engine.
Pm me if interested

The "factory" box you want is from a Daf 400/LDV Convoy V8 van. I have had two of these vans (sick puppy I know!) and the first, a Daf 400 V8 had this ZF 4HP22 box. To be honest, it was the nicest part of the van, really nice shifting, and tall overdrive (0.73 I think) My current van has the 5 speed manual box, and is nowhere near as nice to drive.
