Hi all, a couple mates and myself bout an N reg crappy blue LDV 2 years ago to do up, and take round europe on a mini trip..
We ended up going over the top and doing a General Lee copy!!

we have kitted her out as good as we can, but now we are bored with the 2.5 turbo diesel engine,so we bought a 3.5 V8 rover p6 's' engine!! we can't wait to get her up and running!

just wondering how to get the best sound from the old girl??? :(

we did have it on pistonheads for sale, but once people started ringing us, we realised that we loved her too much to sell it!! thats when the V8 idea came up!

Ah, that's where I saw it.

Back on track, what sort of 'sound' do you want. Engine noise comes from exhaust and inlet. Zorst is often easier to play with, so best to concentrate on that first.

I put a V8 in a 200 series LDV - which is much more difficult than putting one in the 400 series. The engine bay in the 400 series is nearly big enough (just need a touch more clearance around the rear passenger side of the engine).

I suggest you join up to

There's a forum member called Bodger who has put an EFi V8 into his 400 series, and Plasicambulance who has a factory V8.

Plenty of LDV related knowledge on tap there.

we just want to get a great sound, but not so it's so loud that it gets on our nerves on the motorway
is there a certain make of air filter that really helps with the noise?

Bodger - I've got some LDV manifolds:
http://www.cowdery.org.uk/miscv8.php right at the bottom of the page.
But I need downpipes & I might as well put in a non-ferked PAS box as well, so I've not actually done anything with them yet.....

they are totally different , a real odd shape ..i was going to try a set of old P5/P6 V8 ones as they are quite narrow and both exit vertically in the centre
the problem i have at the moment is that because the left hand side exit is lower than the right the pipes are touching the cross member over the bumps .....i feel another bodge coming on :D

ps: chris do you know if the o/s manifold will fit on the N/s of the engine ??

The manifolds will fit either side of the engine (as the heads are the same). However whether the downpipe comes out in a sensible place is a different question!!!
