Some MegaSquirt questions.

I have an SD1 fitted with a MegaSquirt II V3 and EDIS. The engine is bog standard SD1 3.5 EFI.
Can anyone with the same give me their cold start details, ie:-
Cranking pulse width at 0C
Warm-up enrichment percentage at 0C
Ignition timing when cranking.
Think I'm fairly close - but making any alterations means waiting ages for it to cool down again to check.
There seem to be loads of MSQ (tuning) files out there for RV8s - but not one I can find for a standard 3.5 using my version of MS.

Try the LR4x4.com website- it has a subforum for MS and MJ users with lots of info 99.99% Rover v8's too obviously

I have a 3.9 Msq in a 3.5 with no problems. I did change a few settings but not that much. The spark and fuel maps are the things I changed the most.

Thanks guys. It's now starting quite well at 0C. Difficult to be accurate until I log it - but I'd guess at about 2-3 seconds of cranking. It was never that brilliant even with the standard injection. My '97 BMW 528 is near instant, so perhaps that spoils me.
I do have a geared starter waiting to be fitted - perhaps that will make it even better.
Does anyone know of a resource for RV8 MSQ files? All I've been able to find is ones for the MS1 - or those for the extra software.

Have you been in touch with Phill Ringwood on here, extra efi? I suspect he has the most rover maps of anyone.
Best regards

I've not been in touch with any of the pros dealing with MS. Phil seems to specialise in the 'extra' software, and since I didn't really need any of those features stayed with the standard.
Also, there's no way I could have afforded the UK prices for an MS, so imported a kit from the US and built it myself. As I did with the loom, etc. So can't really expect free help from a business.
I do read the MS forum which is aimed at the DIYer. But don't know of anyone on there with exactly the same combination as I have.
Basically, I'm 90% there. It now starts and runs very well. MPG isn't good enough yet, though.

Dave I will have a look for some MS11 Msq's but if you ask Phil he will help as it doesn't matter (as long it was from a reputable dealer) where you got the ECU and the fact you assembled it yourself is a bonus.
Send him a PM.

Hi Dave,
Id go over to the extra code even if you dont need the features, as it is used in a lot more setups than the standard code, its more tunable, better backed up and its what most RV8 owners use in their MSs. The extra code was written with the RV8 in mind, as James and I both have one, so were a little biased
Youll find a lot more base maps for the extra code too. I can soon send you a couple to try, but like all maps, they do need tuning to your setup.
Have a look on my site for a suitable extra code, Id use V2.1.0p

Thanks very much, Phil. I'm a bit wary about changing to the extra code since I'm very nearly there and have a feeling it will be like starting from scratch again.

But I'll consider it again when the weather gets better. The car lives outside on the street which makes for essential work only until the spring.
