Air/Fuel ratio gauges

I've been perusing eBay and have been considering getting an Autometer AFR gauge to match my 'tach and wondered if anyone had any experience with them?
This kind of jobby
I assume I can use any 3 pin O2 sensor with it, or can a 4-pin be wired to suit?
I was thinking of using it to keep an eye on the injection system, especially if I fit Megasquirt (which I intend to sometime soon) and make sure the fuelling is at least approximately close.
Would this actually serve my purpose or am I better off saving up and getting a wideband lambda instead?

They only do 'narrow band' sensing so are not really good enough to help you tune an EFi system. You can buy an additional (not from autometer) convertor that goes inline to convert it too a wide band meter but I don't have the link here.

you can make your own for around £10 using a LM339 and a few LEDS.
Its better than nothing, but wideband is much more useful.

here we are - add this little gizmo and it'll do exactly what you want. And at $199 pretty good value considering it includes the O2 sensor I would've thought.

Hey thanks muchly for that!
Oddly enough I stumbled across one of those on US eBay but didn't really clock what it was.........
Will bear it in mind! Would be nice to keep the Autometer gauge theme going......Along with the several Smiths guages.......Hey ho, can't win 'em all

If you want a mega cheap display to use with a basic LC-1 , ive used some cheap 0-2v voltmeter LCD displays I found on ebay. Circa £15 or so.

No idea what Bill charges but I got mine from salometrading@vano.co.uk at very good prices they also do the digital gauge @£££ or the analogue gauge at much more sensible money. The LC1 will also work with any narrow band gauge though if you want to keep things looking the same.

Bills prices are keen......
Can you explain that last statement ?
The LC-1 is a wideband controller intended to be used with a Bosch LSU4 sensor.

sorry Stevie replace sensor with gauge it will work with a narrow band gauge and to get the full reading you can obviously plug a laptop in and read the data when tuning.
