Picked up a new one today for the SD1 from a Landie independent only to find it was black. Seals far better, they said. Do you still use Hylomar round the water ports as per the BL manual?
But it was good to re-discover AutoPost who are now in Merton. I last used them when they were in Balham, and thought they had closed since there was no forwarding address on the old premises.

According to RAVE, you only need sealant in the four 'v' shaped grooves underneath the ends of the clamps (where the v shaped lumps at the end of the rubber seals goes)
No mention of sealant anywhere else.

Brilliant gasket

had a bolt hole missing. I've seen this before where the punch hasn't quite knocked out the waste, but on this one no punch had been near it. And I was hoping to get the job finished this weekend. Bas****s.

Dave
Can you mark out the position, clamp and drill the hole ?
Using a dremel if you have one can be used to final finish.
Cheers

Be difficult to do without damaging the coating. And I've lost the will to live.

I take it you have a composite gasket?
Still a bit of wee to do
Understand your frustration though.

Went back to AutoPost to change the faulty gasket. That was of a different design - cut back between the ports and round the bolt holes, latest type, they said. Did wonder why they'd given me the older design in the fist place. Which appeared to be the only one they had of that. Made me suspicious...
Offer it up to discover it fouls two of the ports, 4&7 - one by over 5mm. Centred up on the narrow land between the two centre ones. So thoroughly p***ed off, I buy a genuine one from a main dealer at 2.5 times the price. But at least that fits.
Phoned AutoPost. 'We've sold hundreds without complaint'
Not even a sorry. Shan't be going there again.
