Just a query.

My engine in question is a 4.2 with dizzy driven oil pump.

I've got a 3qt accusump to install on my engine so that when i'm at silly angles it has 'some' supply of oil.

I'm going to run it using the solenoid it came with, but just wire it in with my fuel pump so it's on all the time. (i.e. not use an epc valve). This is to help reduce the risk of failures and keep pressures smooth.

What i was curious about was, do others who've got them use a check valve to stop oil going back to the oil pump ?

When I ran my accumulator with dizzy oil pump timing cover, I plumbed it directly into the timing cover oil pressure switch port (used a combined pressure switch & sender in the pump housing). I wouldn't worry about directing the woosh into your engine, there may be instances where back filling the pump will make sure it primes if its sucked in a lot of air? You still see the pressure when you switch the ignition on (and can adjust the air pressure to suit - then just keep an eye that it doesn't lose air pressure), so it's not like it all gets blasted down the pickup into the sump.

Still have the solenoid fed from the purge valve wiring, which also comes off the fuel pump relay, gives you a nice shot of pre-oiling and cuts off whilst the engine is still at pressure.

They're pretty foolproof really, nice & simple nothing over-complicated TBH.

Cheers for the quick reply. So you're basically saying no to the check valve.

I'll be t'ing in at my remote filter head as this is the most convenient place.

A small part of me is saying to install the epc valve but turn it down so the solenoid is in effect closed between 20 and 25psi (or there abouts, possibly a touch lower say 15 - 20). I'm on about 20psi at idle with hot oil.

My megasquirt runs the fuel pump for a second or so before firing, hence i'll go to that for 12v. It also means that if i stall the fuel pump will shut off and i'll not dump the contents of the accumulator.
