fuel pump pre filter

Hi..

I need an fuel pump pre filter for my EFI SD1 12mm inlet/outlet pipes..
Question can i use normal hi pressure fuel filter before pump (tank to pump), or is it too resistive? ( 10 microns) or is it better to use 100microns or similar?

Engine capacity is 5.2litre and approx 370hp when fitted throttle bodies..

Any ideas? Our local dyno guru says that 10microns filter is too resistive?
and another guys say that will work ok?

not quite sure mate but I'm running a Volvo EFi filter after my Holley, and before the swirl pot/Bosch pump. Should be good for 400bhp I wsa told when I fitted it . . .

I would run as small a filter hole size as you can get away with. I wouldn't have thought it would have been too much of a prob. If you find it is too restrictive, run a second in parallel. It will be cheaper than replacing an expensive pump due to damage!

The SD1 tank already has a filter of sorts before the pump. You're only looking to stop fairly large particles - the main filter will stop smaller stuff from getting to the injectors.

Yes, but my filter is in my garage.. I bought 2nd hand tank and filter is out of place.. so need to fit in line pre filter..
I try to bush original filter in the place, but it will need glue + etc magic trick“s to ge in it. so easier to fit in line pre filter.
