Hello, my name is Graham and this is my modified Spitfire[
http://www.britishv8.org/Triumph/GrahamBingham.htm]. She started life as a 1974 MkIV 1300, I upgraded to 2 litre straight six and then a couple of years ago to 3.5 Rover V8.
Spec is as follows:
3.5 Rover V8, with SD1 heads, Offenhauser 360 manifold, Edelbrock/Webber 4 barrel carb, 14inch air filter, MGBGTV8 manifolds.
GT6 front suspension and brakes.
Since completion I have managed to link up with a few other V8 Spitfires
Is there anyone on this forum with one?
Its one hell of a drive!!!
Not sure I have got the hang of adding a picture

The web page is an article I did for British V8, I have lots of build photo's showing the modifications to the Spitfire to get the V8 in but they are only on my computer.
Is there no plan to allow adding Jpegs to the forum posts?

if you host the pics on a web site or host like photobucket etc,
you can then add them to here, via the link

Graham!
Just save your pics in Photobucket and then put the link in the post.
The pics will just pop up like Tony did.
Nice motor BTW...

Thanks for the welcome.
I will make an effort to get my pictures into photobucket or similar.
With regard to future works, I guess one day I will have to do something with the rear suspension/drivetrain. Currently I am running on a renewed Spitfire rear, 1500 diff, new UJ's, new wheel bearings, a new spring and gas shocks.
You hear so much about the Spit rear end not being upto much, but so long as you don't push it too far its OK. I don't go drag racing, and don't smoke the tyres away from the lights so it has been OK for me so far (touches wood hastily

).
I have done quite a bit of research on the subject of modifications to the rear end and quite like the sound of using either a Subaru or BMW diff with an IRS set up.
Problem is it would mean taking the motor off the road again and taking the body off (again!) Also funds are not very good for such projects at the moment so it will have to wait.
In the shorter term I have a hardtop to refurbish and will continue to replace bits and pieces with custom stuff as I go along.
Any body know if there are any other V8 Spitfires on the forum?
Cheers
Graham

Hi Graham
That must be an insane ride
I have read your feature on the website and what a good job you have done.
But you do know that once you are dragged kicking and screaming to the Pod the devil will take over and you will have to see what she runs
Not that any of us will try and persuade you you understand
Perry leave him alone.
Cheers

Thanks Paul,
Did you have a look at some of the cars on the BritishV8 web site.
It was this site and putting a V8 in my mates MGBGT that persuaded me to have a go with the Spit.
There are some real works of art on that site.
I visited the Pod back in the 70's but have not managed to get back since. Is Easter the next meeting?
Cheers

That was what I said about 8 years ago Graham
I had my lovley MK1 Tina back then. One marriage 20 years and 4 kids later I got some spare readies and bought the MGB. Now look what I have got myself into???
Your engine bay looks lovely mate. It just needs a few finishing touches though. Mainly some nice red and blue pipework for a nitrous system??
You will eventually realise that it makes sense
