Hi Guys,
i have this toy for my rover now, but i have had no luck in getting more info about the instalation in the range rover model, i was told it was from 4.6HSE 1999 range rover.
i would like to find out more about the route of the charger belt and a pictures of it would be useful

Hi Andy, when you put it on your engine you should be able to see whether the pulley on the front lines up with any existing serp pulleys or whether it is slightly foreward. That should determine whether it is driven off the existing set up with a longer belt or whether you need to have a pulley made to go infront of the existing front pulley and use a seperate belt.

Hi,
well mine should just line up with a pulley fitted to the rear of the SD1 crank pulley, when i make one. It must have had a more pulleys to keep it to the side of the water pump.well thats what i will look at doing.
my set up is with early SD1 engine and water pump on a A belt

Hi Mate,
If it's off a 4.6 then they use a much shallower crank pulley. The grooves run around the rim of the damper compared to the intermetiate/ serp pulley which bolts to the front of the damper and has a much larger off set.
Personally I wouldn't recomend going the v-belt route. I did that with my first supercharger install for ease of fitment I used the standard inner v pulley from the range rover. Centrifugal blower on 3.5. I did the tension calculations and worrked out it could transmit enough power but having to use a very high belt tension! (turns out too high) I had lots of belt slip, lots of black dust around the pulley was only getting 3 psi and the belt failled, your roots blower would also require more power to drive.
I would use (the route i'm now doing) one of the serp crank pulleys depending on the offset you need.
Good luck, should be fun.

HI Tom,
I will be using another ribbed pulley behind the crank pulley i have already fitted on.I would only use the v belt for the water pump. The pulley and belt i think will then need to go down and in front of cylinder one. im sure it will come clear next september when i will pull the motor to bits and start fitting the blower unit.
do the serp belts pulley use a less ribbed belt?
do you have the details for the pulley, wold save me lots of work if i can get one off the shelf.Even a picture if you had one of it.

Andy, I have a spare later serp front pulley sitting on the shelf- it is incredibly short and wouldn't fit on mine with an interim front cover, if you like I will send you a pic when I get a chance to take one!

Thanks TC
that would be helpful, would it fit behind my front pulley then?
will the 6 rib serp pulley be okay for the suppercharger?

I can only find a pic of the earlier serp pulley with the large offset.
The later is basically the same damper with the ribs around its rim.
I'll post a pic when i'm home.
It wouldn't fit behind your pulley. it can't be unbolted like the earlier ones with 6 bolts. The damper and pully ribs are one unit.
They are all 7 rib pulleys.

That is a very tidy installation

very discrete.
