acording to Marki's list it is an engine number for a griff 500, have a check, first post on this section and scroll down to other engines 37a50... coversgriff 500's morgans are 37A00.

Sorry didn't explain properly, he's first put an engine no down as s46 or somethin, and shows a pic of it stamped near the dipstick tube, which is where I thought the numbers were stamped. The other no he had he found on the front somewhere.

S46D is 4.6ltr based as fitted to morgan, (same as my 4.6 is stamped)
i think the 5.0 uses the same stroke as 4.6 but has a 95mm bore.
instead of the 94mm bore.

heads look 4.6

compression 9:35 ??? morgan ?sounds 4.6 and crossbolted again 4.6
looks to me a 4.6
in 1996 morgans had option as 4.6 9:35 1 compression??
it shows a 4.6 engine number as per the numbers on one of the pics
S46D0000A Morgan +8 9.35:1cr efi
37A50P0000 TVR Griffith/Chimaera 500 10:1cr efi

When you swap a crank/rods/pistons into a block the original stampings don't change magically

Same when you pop some other heads on, the CR can change... If its just a TVR that had a bad block, then they could have used any 94mm block (5.0 is just stroked) - in fact some may have done it just for the x-bolting? TVR power have also been known to rebuild other peoples motors to 5.0 spec - so it might just be a bottom end, but since it came out of a TVR its is more likely to have the proper heads as well.
