i found a complete quad downdraught setup with 48mm dellorto drla's

i already have 4 x 40mm drla.

i was wondering what the 48's would be worth, they are in new / as new condition so i have been told.

i am only rly after the inlet or would i be better to stick with 48's and choke them rite down and sell the 40's????

48 dellortos are in fact 45 choke dellortos with the lower 1/3 bored out to take a 48 throttle plate, the venturis are the same as 45 dellortos. If you have a set of 48 dellortos I would use them as they will be the ideal size for a 3.5/3.9.
Mike
PS. sell the 40's to Zander as they will go nicely on a 4.35 rover with chevy rods and pistons with a 4.2 rover crank, with buick 300 heads, a nice short duration hydraulic roller cam and a th 400 with a manual clutch conversion and a shift kit (that is until he builds the SBC he should have in the first place!!!)

Haha thanks for the encouragement mate! Maybe oneday I will fit a roller cam to my engine!

Though I already have my self a very nice reconditioned set of 36s which have all been balanced and 'apparently' set up for a 3.5 engine. We will see whether they are when I can eventually afford to finish building the bugger...

Chroming your engine would have been cheaper!

I have to admit though, you cant beat a quad downdraft setup! Also, wouldnt it be a bit more 'correct' for a GT40 style car? I know most of the rear engined race cars from that period up until the late 70's had quad downdrafts.

Engine, Eales workover, exhaust etc - bills come to about £12k

It makes me wonder why the original builder decided on EFi when he was throwing so much money at it and a set of 4 carbs would be correct and probably give the same power output but be more thirsty. (But covering about 3000 miles a year how much extra would even 5mpg worse consumption actuall cost?)

that said a Ford mill would have been even more accurate

So not my choice at all but when the deal came along it became mine!

Now chroming it - that's worth thinking on - will it stop the Rover leaking oil?
