The MGB gets some more air!!

I've just ditched my Weber 500 and performer manifold, and got a Harcourt single plane mani and a Weber 600. I've also got a nice riser plate so I can get my scoop higher up to catch more air and to space the nitrous injector plate further up from the manifold to hopefully even out distribution.
I dont know if it will work until I get it back on the dyno in a week or so.

Looks nice Perry! Thats about as high as my set up with the blower!!! That manifold must be a fair bit higher than the eddy 180 even without the spacer plate!
Cant wait to see the results

Perry.
Looks interesting, getting the bug catcher 2-3" higher has got to help but the dyno run won't show that unless they blow a lot of air over the bonnet area.
Nice manifold, so where did you find the second hand Harcourt as I believe they are no longer in production, the manifold you showed earlier had the cast in bridge for the coolant and stat housing which I presume was the Wilwood.
Also appears to have facility for injectors, how will you block those off?
One other thing, as speed and air pressure increases through the bugcatcher this might have an effect on the air fuel ratio through the carb, but should not affect the nitrous side, you may need to somehow monitor the overall fuel ratio as speed increases to make sure you do not run lean at the top end.

Christ Kevin, will you stop thinking of everything?

Perrys going to use the injector holes for direct port nitrous duh!!!
Interesting thought about the shaker box putting the AFR out with speed/pressure. Still love the manifold

You will find you have to be going about 100mph even just to get 1.5% more power due to the 'ram air effect'!!!!!! Its completely worthless...
Now getting the airfilter out of the hot air created by the engine... that is worth some power...
Does look like a nice setup though!

It is in a shiny aluminium box that sits out of the bonnet being cooled by 100mph air most of the time

Well you've got yourself 1.5% more power my friend... its like turning the airconditioning down a tad!
You have any pics of your bugcatcher? I plan to either make a buzzard catcher out of carbon fibre with an ally front plate and barndoor butterlies to fit over my quad downdrafts (buzzard catchers are now near impossible to find) or see if I can fit two shotgun scoops over them...
Not for performance mind you, but because they look AWSOME! Plus I'd need some kind of scoop or buldge anyway as it gona be a tall setup...

Dont you really want some kind of snorkel? Mine is a polished hilborn type so no butterflies, just a nice chrome honeycombe in the front.

Snorkel???? the last thing i want to do is choke my lovely race v8 by fitting a silly snorkel!
They are only for people who do VERY deep wading (I can go to above my bonnet without one as my airfilter is in the big airscoop i made in my avatar), and by very deep i mean half way up your windscreen!
Anything less than that a large K&N above the bonnet does perfectly

Zander,
The point is that Perry will be going from having the bugcatcher in a low pressure position to a position of positive pressure so the difference may be somewhat greater.

It still doesnt make a lot of difference to be honest! Its air temp that is the big one. I will try and find the literature on it... got the info and calcs (which i went though and add up) from a book on cfd and fluid mechanics on racecars.

The bug catcher being higher up will just be a by product of me wanting a longer intake tunnel. I've just done some spray pattern testing and it seems the best place for my injector plate is right on top of the inlet manifold.
