Flapper type on a Rover V8. I know I need to keep it horizontal, but can I turn it upside down without ill effects?

if you simply rotate it 180deg in lione with the air flow then yes,

I have mine mounted vertically and it seems to be behaving itself with out any issues, well none that I can see anyway?
