if so whats it like? happy with it?

might be parting with just shy of £700 tomorrow on one, mainly to fix a problem but im going to need one eventually anyway when i build a new engine.

if im given a base map, how good would you expect t to be? would i be able to drive on it for a year or so till i have built a new engine?

V8Ian and I use Emerald. Base map may get you going but not sure if you could run ok for a year, if you have wide band lambda and allow the car to self map it maybe ok but nothing like getting it setup on the rollers. Have you tried seeing if Dave would do you a deal on the setup?

Im using emrald, and im happy with it, r2d2 had one as well,
they heve loads of features i probably never need or ever understand how to use
The nice thing is the setup, for a set price, a mate of mine who was with me when I had my car setup, had just bought a MOTEC for his car, on the strength of what he saw that day, he sold the Motec and ordered a M3Dk

will the emerald be able to give out a rev counter feed which would read correctly on a 4 cylinder rev counter??

also are they ok to be mounted in the engine bay??

feed for the tach, no problem, Mounting in the engine bay, as with any electrinic equipment would be better mounted somewhere cool, but in reality, I dont think it would be a problem as long as its dry and away from RF sources.

Hi Ralph,

The supply a number of default maps and there is one for SDi V8 Rover that maybe of some use. Best speak to Carl and see what he has available.

Also with the Rev counter I think it may re 2x what it should but you maybe able to adjust it to work.

Are you retaining the flapper assy?

whos carl??

if it reads double i can modify my revcounter, but i dont want to modify it if the ecu has i program in it to make it work fine standard.

no ditching the flapper AFM, emerald said you only need the throttle pot an RPM anyway.

Carl is the technical guy at Emerald, very knowledgeable chap.

You may need a rev counter driver depending on the make of your instrumnet, the VDO one I used with the emerald with could be driven directly from the ECU.

Definitly fit a wide band lambda sensor as well, the latest K3 emerald will make a decent stab at mapping itself ( for fuel anyway) if you give it the input.

Ask Emerald which one they would reccomend as there's been some problems with some of the cheaper kit.

dave said thats going to have to come to an end tho as its pissing off there other customers. did me a favour tho, easier to save £60 than it is make it.

You can get the LC-1 Wideband from Bill Shurvinton on here or send him an email bill@shurvinton.fsworld.co.uk

Great guy and quick turnaround

Can not see anything in the config where you can configure the RPM output but again if you have a word with Carl he maybe able to make a FW mod for you to allow use of 4cyl Rev Counter.

Carl writes the SW and does the HW Mods
