Hi folks i need a good carb asap my question is has anyone used a holley factory rebuilt carb? a brief look on the net gave me cause for concern, although not directly dissing a branded rebuilt carb i read suggestions to avoid them, dont know why though.

I would avoid rebuilt 4 barrel carbs, they are distinctly fit use throw away items from new, can't see you would save much over a new one anway. If you have to use second hand carbs because of budget use SUs they will be cheeper the manifolds are very cheep and if referbished will give better results than a referbished 4 barrel.

I've never fitted a 4 barrel to a rover, but I would go with the holley if it were my budget as they are meant to be quicker and easier to set up on a rolling road and this is where your real costs will be.

I've had a small amount of Holley experience on the Rover V8. And I now use a Weber / Edelbrock 500cfm 4 barrel carb. Because I find the Weber easier to set up and adjust in the car, as opposed to using a Holley.
Just my personal preference though.

Interesting Perry,
goes agianst the general reputation of both makes, but as I said I've never fitted a 4 barrel to a Rover, as you have I would go with your advise.

It is a 60 second job to change the metering rods on an Eddy, whereas I think you have to drain and remove both float chambers to get to them on a Holley.

ok guys thank a lot. Sorry for the deley getting back, dont think it makes much difference but its going on a 350 pontiac, for street use. Middle of next week is crunch time, and as ever the bank balance will probly decide which make i get.
