A 3.9 one?!
I was wondering if there is any sort of rule as to how big a rad you need to how many bhp the engine has- or something along those lines...

I go for the biggest I can physically fit, which is especially important if you are using an electric fan!

I agree with Chris
As big as possible
But I have also heard that after 4 rows adding extra rows makes the radiator heavier but may not increase cooling
Basically once the air has passed 4 cores it is so hot already it will not absorb any / more heat but the extra restriction in the flow may reduce the overall flow of air theough the rad and make the whole thing less efficient!
Make sense?

My old one ran for yrs with a Volvo 240 rad, then I put a 740 alloy one (think it was) of same dimensions, off a 2 litre car. Leccy puller fan.

Couple more bits of info I have heard - so I advise but may not be correct
Need a miimum of 1/3 of the area of the rad as the "hole" in the front of the car / grill area
The back of the rad should be as free of restrictions as possible.
My Rad in the Gt40 is 12 *24 inches made by Docking and was said to be good for up to 600hp and was an absolute piect of craftsmanship.
So this size is about 30 *60 cm or 1800sq cm
yours is about 40 *40 or about 1600sq cm
The one good thing about it is that it is square and thus you should be able to get a 16 inch fan on it (mine uses 2 * 11 inch)
A 16 inch fan will move about 1800cfm and my 2 ultra power ones move about 780cfm each or a little short of 1600 so you should be fairly good to go.
And I would love a rad that cheap Mune was over 4 times the e bay price! But mention GT40 and people see £££££ signs!
