could anyone help me decide if these are cast omega or forged ,and also can one get rings for them , oh and also what would they be worth ?

apparently they come from a twr race motor ,and have done about 200 miles ,bit of water marking that polishes out easily ,one oil ring rail missing ,can i get another? , oh they also have tapering gudgeon pins and measure roughly

5.66 ROD LENGTH ,AND
14 CC PISTON DISH oops caps ,
1.875 crown to centerline of little end
some of rods have the beam flanks polished , presumably to balance .
3.7 bore

loads of questions ! :D
thanks
robert

looks like cast to me from the side photos. My forged omegas are real smooth all over. Got a part number, you could try omega?

The JEM is John Eales old company. Everything he had made has JE on it somewhere LOL! The fact they're JE and have valve reliefs means you get a few quid for them but they're not forged by the look of them.

thanks, chodjinn and hairbear ....

that what i thought , i remember my forged omegas were shiny all over too .

there is no part no ,is it possible to buy these pistons new ?
what pistons are available for 3.9 rovers in the strong and capable of handling boost department , all iv found so far are the real steel forged ones at 400 odd quid with rings ..

wev used cast omegas in a turbo v8 in a capri a long time ago mid 90's, and they appear to handle everything thrown at them ,same as in my turbo mini ,so they are pretty strong it seems .
thanks :)

yeah the cast omegas are a lot better than any rover piston. I dont believe you can get omegas like that any more, not off the shelf anyway. I was lucky and got mine recently of another forum member. Dont know what the reel steel ones will be like.

It depends on your set up I guess, some people have ran high power on standard low comp rover pistons.

I would say they are cast too.
When i phoned the guy who makes the omega pistons he said he couldnt sell me any but had to go through (John eales) I think it was. He buys the lot and he is the dealer for them. When i was picking the brain of mr omega i said i was wanting to buy some forged and he kept telling me i only needed cast beacuse of the good quality of the cast they use. My old 3.9 had them in and it took so much hammer and never faultered. My mate bought it og me and was putting 210bhp of gas through every run and it ran like a dream. If i remember rightly, John sleath told me he was putting over 300bhp of gas through his 3.9 with cast omegas in. That is some quality cast if you ask me.
