hello.

newby here...

i have a 1972 Vauxhall Victor estate 2.3, and i have just bought a rover SD1 3.5 engine.

i would like some help to get me started on my engine swap.

what i would like to know is what i will need to do this conversion, i.e do i have to change rear axel, prop, gearbox, ect ect...

complete novice at doing this, but would like to give it a shot as work in a garage and have reasonably good mechanical skills.

please, if anyone can help, let me know.....
the build will be recorded on here from start to finish.

hope to hear from you all soon.

mark.

Welcome, this used to be quite a common swap, take out the slant 4 and fit the Rover, About all you can keep from the original running gear is the back axle and the prop, which is used as a donor to construct a new prop when needed, Axle, from memory is a strong one, so there should no be issues there, the vauxhall also has a good wide engine bay which helps a lot when sorting exhausts, I would possibly think the rad may be up to the job as well, if not dosent the Ventora one bolt in?--- Now Im thinking would a Lotus Carlton engine bolt into the car----- Now there would be a different toy,

well work has started on the engine.....

all alloy parts to be polished and lots of chrome parts bought.......

also bought a cfm600 Holley.

all i need now is a manifold for the holley and a manual SD1 box and i will be able to get my hands dirty.

oh, by the way.... this is what i will be fittin the engine too.....
