Has anyone got any pictures of a v8 rover block fitted with knock sensors as I would like to fit them to my early engine and want to get them in the correct place.

Thanks

Found one picture on RPI site that shows location on dipstick side, just need drivers side now.

Check out my rebuild page (shed loads of images)

There's a knock sensor in the non dipstick side, and you can see the mounting for the sensor in the other side in the same place.

Thanks Chris,

Do the holes blind or do they go into the water jacket.

Forgive my ignorance but what are these sensors and how do they work?

The holes are blind.

A knock sensor is a type of microphone, which is hooked up to the ECU which listens for the characteristic sound of pre-ignition. That way the ECU can run the timing much closer to optimum as it has a safety mechanism to detect pinking. A distributor can't do that of course.
