right, timing cover plans changed again
have now got (ebay) a brand new 3.9 interim serp timing cover with front pulley water pump etc,
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... NA:GB:1123
are the alternator brackets and power steering brackets the same for both style of serp fronts?
im missing alternator bracket, power steering bracket, alternator. power steering pump is sorted thanks to Gav, and waterpump pulley and possibly a tensioner is sorted by slater, (maximmotorsport on here i think),

i thought so too
but i can't take the credit, someone who knows the score on last min bidding won it for me
just a few bits to get, then can start setting it up for trigger wheel, and bolting it all up to my engine,
you watch taken me all this time to get one, now wont get the parts needed to finish it

That's the same front end config I have on the Griff engine. If you need any pics regarding triggers or how it fits together then let me know.

I think John Eales sells an alternator bracket for the intermediate setup.
Not sure of price though
And yes it is different to the GEMS version. On a GEMS the alternator sits quite high I think which is why I can't go that way in my Westfield.

I have both style front covers, and every type of bracket.
I could not get any of them to fit with enough clearance, so in the end welded up my own in steal.
triggerwheels.com do a kit for the int. pulley, Also I've fitted one to the latest style front end. (I'm currently the only person I know who has done this)
depending where you are you could come down and try all the brackets to see what one fits.
Im in Essex nr Basildon.

im down in berkshire mate,
my v8 is in a capri and i know of 2 others that have used the serp front with the said brackets,
i have been told the interim brackets are longer than the gems one due to the dizzy hole,
if they are no use to you would you be interested in selling some of the brackets mate????
regarding me coming down, that would be a bit hard as waiting on the front cover, and the engine is in bits

I found the origin of my error when I say brackets are the same between both types of front covers.
There are two versions of distributorless front timing cover.
It depends of oil filter orientation/oil pick up/sump.
One uses same casting like interim front conver but the hole for Dizzy is plugged by casting or on some covers provision for dizzy in casting has disappear like later front cover. Hole for cam sensor is machined.
It uses same pulleys and brackets than interim front cover.
This type of front timing cover also continues to use bolted to block oil pick up and early LR/RR steel sump .
Here pics of one look a like an interim front cover but where dizzy provision disappears and cam sensor hole opened for distributorless application.
This type of front timing cover was used on Defender 4.0 NAS and on the 50Th Anniversary. May be on some NAS Discovery before 1998.
