yup good idea,
easiest way is collect all the bits off a RR ordiscovery including the ECU and clean it up and fit it! I assume a you have a 3.5 in which case you will want the hotwire set up off a late 3.5 discovery. I would avoid a flapper type as it is crude, restrictive and old.
Your other choice is to get the manifold off either type, collect a hardware of sensors and throttle and buy an aftermarket ECU (megasquirt, vems MS extra etc) a better solution in the long run.

Hi, had the mog from new. looking for some kit that's first rate rather than ebay / scrapyards. Been out of the country for a few years -who's the best person or firm to approach for the good stuff -not too worried about funding. aj

Hi
you are not going to get new injection manifold for the rover V8 unless you go for exotic aftermarket kit. A discovery manifold and plenum can be bead blasted to get it to look like new, a throttle plate and position sensor can be got for new from various places, a VEMS, emerald or MS extra ECU are bought new the rover manifold is pretty good. If it were me I'd go this route, exotic inlet manifolds wouldn't be worth the cost unless you are tuning the engine

AJ,

If you want to do it yourself you could buy all the kit at reasonable cost from Alan Coote at Range Rover Heaven in Wiltshire. Tel. Mob. 07711 369785 you will also need a surge tank/filter and a return fuel line and you will need to match the ECU to the 3.5 engine.

Alternatively if money isn't an issue and you want some one else to do it ring Chris at RPI in Norfolk he runs a 5.5L +8 careful or he will sell you almost everything. Can't find their phone no but you'll find them on google.

Also plenty of information on EFI in the relative section.

The link to this site gives you all the information you need.

It's run by Eliot who frequents this BBS and could probably help with most of the parts.

http://www.mez.co.uk/TuningTheRoverV8-pt9.html

If your engine has done more than 60k miles it could probably do with a new cam and lifters which is an opportunity to upgrade to something a little better, also a pair of econotune/stage 1 heads from Peter Burgess would add significant power without affecting flexibility. Heads and cam with matched efi, expect 200-210BHP

Hi there,

Thanks for the comment -I agree there is a trade off but on balance I think Ill go the 450+8 hotwire route. So thanks for the RR heaven and MEZ prompt -I'll give them a bell.

As an aside are RPI the scrapyard gang in Norwich /agents for Real Steel/ rovatecs apprentice? Their Sadam style customer services to a couple of my colleagues was along the lines of go F**k yourselves rather than sorting out a pretty bad mistake on RPI's part. I think I'll give them a wide berth for now -they've got a pretty bad reputation in the mog fraternity and I'm frankly suprised they're still going.

Cheers for the advice aj
