Clutch died on dyno - replacement suggestions appreciated

ETA -Thanks for the move :)

I had my car (heavily modded TVR Griffith 500) on the dyno again on Sunday.

Last time it made a pedestrian 315 bhp @ 5400 and 350 ftlbs @ 4200
In my defence it wasn't properly tuned (my new induction system was being tested) and there were a couple of other small gremlins - all now fixed.

This time it made 157 bhp and 330 ftlbs, but at 2400  After this, the poor old clutch wouldn't let any power out of the engine.

It would seem the clutch is not as "uprated" as the sale description implied. Maybe "Uprated fast road clutch for Griffith 500" simply means it's stronger than the Rover clutch, but still only suitable for a standard car. It wasn't too expensive and generally you get what you pay for, so I'm not going to cry too much - I got 18 months of good use out of it.

The dyno operator suggested that the engine may have reached the heady heights of 370+ ftlbs and 340+ bhp, extrapolating from the initial part of the curve. (I think it's a bit high, but not beyond possibility given what I've done to the car)

So, what options are there for clutches? I don't want to have the pedal any heavier, have an on/off switch or spend much more than £500. (preferably much less!)

I have a couple of other people telling me Helix clutches are OK. Looks like it's becomming a plan :)

It's good to be back Tony - it's been an interesting 3 months for me! Involving lots of sleepless nights. ;)

Phone Helix, tell them your spec and I am sure they will be able to make you somthing to suit your needs, they did a custom friction plate for me in 3 days to on my doorstep from phonecall, I call that top service,
They also make low impact friction pressure plates, which are less lightly to explode under extreme useage, which in my opinion is a good option
