I bolted the clutch slave cylinder to the gearbox last night, and gave the pedal a quick push, and it had little/no resistance. Doesn't feel like its engaging anything.

I've recently put everything in the car - RV8 & LT77. Running an AP twin plate clutch, standard release mechanism etc. Looked in the clutch master cylinder and there wasn't much fluid in it - think I should bleed the clutch and try again?

Thing is, when I pressed the pedal before I fitted the slave cylinder, the piston moved like it should. have I assembled something wrong?! haynes is no use and this is the first time I've done something like this ;p)

first think is to bleed it properly and see what happens. If that doesn't do it then get a friend and see what's moving and what isn't also check the arm hasn't come off the ball. if all seems ok then it might be you have to change the pushrod length or release arm due to you having a completely different clutch in there now.

I dont think the release arm has come off the pivot because I was very careful installing the slave cylinder, and it would be days worth of work if it did come out I did it once when I bolted the gearbox to the engine the first time around - and it came off when the pushrod was pulled to far out of the bellhousing - not the other way round.

The clutch plate that I have now is the same thickness as the single AP I was running before, so I see no reason why anything should be changed at all. Release bearing/arm etc were all in good nick before I fitted the gearbox.

Hopefully the bleed will sort it out this wkend, if not I'm stumped
