i've just bought a second hand 390 (vacuum sceondaries) and 360 manifold and have tried to fit it today (rv8). couple of problems..... 1st for the choke there is just a spade connecter sticking out, does anyone know what this wires up to? 2nd there is a pipe sticking out of the left hand side ( by the choke) is this a breather? also theres a tiny little pipe sticking out of the front of the underneath of the carb, whats this?? and lastly when it started (before it kept cutting out) it seems to be leaking from under the secondary diaphram, what would be the cure for this?? any help or pics would be appreciated, am feeling a bit down after my lack of succes!

I can help on the choke, it needs to be wired to a switched live from the ignition but not the coil wire as it is less than 12 volts.

thanks mark, so i guess its a case of ignition feed to a switch then onto the side of the choke ?

You leave it connected to the switched live, it is a kind of automatic choke and the 12 v feed heats a bi-metalic spring thingy that gradually opens the choke flap. If you switch it off it will close the choke. Manual choke conversions are available though as they often don't open the flap as quick as your engine might need.
