Crank to Cam timing

Having bought a duplex timing chain set from RPI i notice the crank pulley has 7 keyways, -6, -4, -2, 0, +2, +4, +6. Can anyone tell me what these different settings are for and maybe suggest if it is worth setting it to anything apart from 0? Do these different settings help achieve different behaviours with the engine? I run the engine in oval motorsport, it has omega pistons, high lift cam and ported / flowed heads if that means anything towards the crank pulley set-up? Also would any changes in the crank to cam timing mean making changes to the ignition timing...i currently set it to 32 degrees out at 2500rpm.

The extra keyways are to help you get the timing closer to the cam manufacturers specs. To do this you need to degree the cam and set it to the closest key. If you dont degree the cam then set it to 0 as this will be safe and nothing will hit.
