hi,

I bought a 3.9 wanting all the loom with it but unfortunately he couldnt remove the loom from the car, i have the ecu with all the sensors on the engine but no loom from that engine. I bought another loom and ecu off ebay and the ecu is different to the one i originally had. So my question is have i bought the wrong loom for my enigne? Im new to fuel injection and dont know much about the rover systems, how many are there and how do i go about learning the differences? I have heard of flapper and hot wire but know nothing about them! Thanks alot.

The differences between flapper and hotwire is worthy of a wiki page....

The easiest way to tell is to look at the air-flow meter. On the flapper it has a flap in there on a return spring. The hot-wire one is open with some fine wires across.

I think I'm right in saying that the flapper ECU plug only has two rows of pins, whereas the hotwire ECU plug as 3 rows? I'm sure about the flapper only having 2 rows, maybe somebody can confirm about the hotwire.

ok from what i have been learning the ecu and loom that i have bought are the flapper. The ECU and engine with sensors and no loom are the hot wire. The ECU numbers are

Flapper PRC 7440

Hot wire PRC 7081

Can put the flapper loom and ECU onto my 3.9 with hot wire sensors or will it not work? If not any one got a 3.9 loom for sale!?!?

as i have just found..... NO! the air flow plug is different and lots of other bits! new post in the wanted section!
